Chiropractic Myths

  • Once you start you can never stop: False! However, there is a reason we brush our teeth daily and change our oil every 3,000 miles – simple maintenance.  People under chiropractic care FEEL GOOD and want to maintain that feeling despite the rigors of life and work. Regular maintenance adjustments, once a person is feeling well, is the best way to sustain that good feeling and prevent life from aggravating and hurting your body – bringing back the pain. Our heath is THE MOST IMPORTANT THING WE HAVE, period!!! Money, fame, family don’t mean much without our health. Chiropractic care helps the body be at its healthiest throughout the year – not just when you hurt.  This is not to say you will never have another pain – we are still human – but they should be much less and always less severe than if a person is not under care.

  • Chiropractic care can cause strokes or break your bones: False! IF the chiropractor always does his proper procedures – consult, exam, x-ray – before he treats the person and then uses the proper techniques for that person. With the proper approach, I am one billion percent confident I will never hurt anyone. Yes, there are unproven stories out there about the person who was paralyzed or died. If that had actually happened the AMA and Pharmaceutical Agencies would plaster them all over the news to discourage people from using chiropractic care.

  • The adjustment noise is bones popping: False. The noise created with a chiropractic adjustment is just the gas being released from a sealed joint. Much like opening a can of Folgers coffee, when you make an adjustment the seal is momentarily opened and the gas that is released makes the popping noise. In fact, it is the same noise that occurs when someone does it to himself or herself with the difference being that attempting to adjust yourself WILL cause damage to the joint over the long term. Chiropractic adjustments do not.
